A visit to the above this afternoon produced very little of note.
1 Little Egret,
Usual Marsh birds,
at least 2 calling great spotted Woodpeckers,
no sign of the GG shrike./
BUT the New car park on the Whitton rd,is very spacious, including spaces for the disabled,so at last we have a decent sized car-park,which will hopefully bring more people in to enjoy this wonderful reserve...
Regards,
Roger.

Hi Roger.
Intending visiting Alkborough soon. Didn't know there was a new car park though.
How close to the reserve is it?

if coming from burton/walcot drive through alkborough...instead of taking turn down narrow lane to get to hill stay on main road, you'll soon see it on left...very good car park..but at the top so bit of a trek down..it takes you to second hide area...i got half way down then turned back..didnt fancy full climb back up..i think it would be hard work even without carrying tripod etc!But id soon get fit if did regular!
