See from birdguides that a ring ouzel has been reported at Whisby tonight.
Has anyone more details. Have been going down several early mornings recently as the nightingales should soon be around. Am hoping to be there again tomorrow so details of the ouzel would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Hugh

Hugh,

Dean Nicholson found the bird this afternoon when it 'flew into a sheep field viewable from Thorpe Road between Thorpe Farm Machinery and the (private) Laforge Quarry Pit. It was present at least an hour and seen three times in all but only once on the deck. It was typically flighty and elusive and was last seen flying towards the sheep field directly opposite TFM.'

I checked out the two sheep fields for an hour or so this morning (Thu) from 08.20, including using the public footpath c. 200 yards SW of TFM to access the rear of the fields .......plenty of Corvids, Starlings and even half a dozen Blackbirds (!) but no Ring Ouzel seen.

Hopefully, someone will be luckier later in the day, if the bird is still around.

Freddy
PS. Thorpe Road is clearly an early am/ late afternoon 'rat-run' to and from Lincoln/elsewhere and can be very busy and dangerous.
