For those in the area that might be interested, the escaped Sacred Ibis has been reported from a grass field by the A16 bypass near Coronation Channel - viewed from low road bridge, this morning.

Is it an escape Roy, or is it perhaps from the feral population breeding in one of the Low Countries (or is it France?). There seem to have been several "arrive" recently (or is it a mass escape!!)

I cannot be sure it's an escape Phil.
These are the comments by Paul French when this bird was first reported in Lincs.

'Sounds like a Sacred Ibis, which will either be a local escape or possibly a bird from the feral population on the Atlantic coast of France (which is Catagory C in France and potentially tickable as a 1st for Britain!). They are not that unusual in Britain though.'

Yes the bird had been seen at Spurn earlier in the day before I saw it over Thulby heading in the direction of Newark. The following day it was at Holme Pierrepoint and then finished up at Cotham Flashes in Notts. I then noted that it made an appearance at Welney and now is back in Lincolnshire.
It just shows how some birds moves around - that is if its the same bird

but with just a brass ring this sounds more likely? an escapee -- at Alkborough this morning apparently then flew off into Yorkshire

Sacred Ibis present at Alkborough this morning til 09.05 and then flew in the direction of Blacktoft Sands.
It was reported flying west over Blacktoft at 10.30.

The Alkborough bird was also carrying a metal ring on the left leg so possibly the same individual as the one seen at Spalding?

Picture in album
