I've been away birding in the Neotropics this last few weeks, so for those interested a catch up on spring migrants from Whisby NP...... Chiffchaff first bird back 13th March Sand Martin first bird back 19th March Blackcap first bird back 26th March (early this year) Willow Warbler 2 birds back 29th March No LRPs or Swallows yet, but next week should see a wave of fresh arrivals. Since my last post its like spring has been on hold with very little to report. However the last few days including today has at last seen some movement, so additions to my last list below include...... Hobby a very early returning bird for Whisby NP/N Hykeham Pits 2nd April House Martin first bird back 6th April Swallow 6 birds back 6th April Ring Ouzel a single in nearby Whisby village 11th April Reed Warbler first bird back 11th April Nightingale 2 birds back in this morning 13th April Common Tern first bird back 13th April Little Ringed Plover first bird back 13th April (very late for Whisby NP) Cheers Grahame |
