A fine male Firecrest showing well in the sunshine in the Willow Hedge by North Flash this morning. It was in the loose company of a Goldcrest, a Chiffchaff and 2 Blue Tits. Most spring records tend to be in the first half of April. Apart from a bird which wintered during 1980/81, the only earlier dates than this for spring Firecrests that I have recorded at Donna Nook were single birds on 27th March 1980 and 17th March 2003. Rather quiet with the usual fare otherwise.
Regards SL.
