A quick dash to K on B Gravel Pits and a tired walk around Kirkby Moor this late afternoon and I saw: RiverSlea Pit: both Smew still there, 2 x Kingfishers, 40 x Siskins in the tall trees at the back of the main LWT Hide Pit, 1 x Egyptian Goose. Kirkby Moor: 22 x Meadow Pipit, 1 x Green Woodpecker, 2 x Great Spotted Woodpecker. Nocton Fen on the way home: 1 x Barn Owl. The meadow pipits were in the dead tree on the right hand side of the track as you drive across the Moor. I dont think Ive ever seen that many meadow pipits together resting/preening sat in a tree but overall the siskins were the highlight for me. Regards, Matthew. |

The White Stork seems to have gone? Not heard about it being reported anywhere else in the UK in the last week? Andrew |

I looked for it Andrew but didnt see it. Most of the gulls were on the pits which made looking easier. The general visibility was quite poor but no luck - I couldnt find it. The siskins made up for it though... Cheers, Matthew. |
