My son, Alex, and I visited Kirkby-on-Bain and Dunsby Fen today (Wed).
We were pleased to find that the 2 drake Smew were still frequenting Riverslea Pit this morning and they were still there when we left at 11.15.
Dunsby Fen was our next destination after a leisurely 'full-filling' (food) visit to "The Bull" at nearby Rippingale.
We remained at Dunsby Fen until 4.45pm and were surprised that no SEOs had shown by then. However, seen were : (incl.) :
4 Buzzard
3 Kestrel
2 RL Partridges
an interesting column in low flight of 19 Pheasants, one after the other
Ringtail Hen Harrier flew in c. 4.30
Cormorant
Sparrowhawk.
