There were six Avocets on the hide pit this morning. (Unfortunately with the water level so high they are not going to find a nesting site!) Is this a particularly early record for Avocets in the county?

There were 2 avocet at Frampton last Friday and also 392 in the Ferriby area on the same day (as per Steve Routledge)

Thanks for that Chris - just seemed to me to be a bit early but then there are a few signs of spring rather earlier than I expected!

11 birds also wintered on the upper humber this year around the Read's Island area also.

None this morning but one Brambling in the mixed finch flock between the tip and the village.
