Post subject:  Pied Wagtails in Boston Market Place...

Saw a large group of Pied Wagtails heading to roost somewhere in Boston Market Place this afternoon as I was shopping. Initially, I saw a group of 5 of them on the roof of the NatWest bank, and more joined them over a time period of about 10 minutes. They had a bit of a chirrup and rest before taking off again in the direction of the Assembly Rooms.

Employing the best flock-counting-in-twilight skills I had, I counted at least 25 and possibly as many as 30 birds in the group.

In addition, a Cormorant was diving for food in the Haven, a Greater Black-backed Gull was preening on the mud banks close to the Cormorant, 2 Redshanks were feeding in the mid closer to Sluice Bridge, a Dunnock was in fine voice outside Lloyds TSB and 2 further Cormorants flew NE over West Street circa 17:10. at least 6 Robins in fine voice serenaded my walk home. No sign of the Peregrines on the Stump.

I've begun to realise that I feel 'naked' without a pair of binoculars beside me at all times!
