A small tern seen fishing off Freiston yesterday, occasionally harried by black-headed gulls, was most likely a Common. After advice from JB probably too much black on nape to be Forster's.

Heard on the news last night that someone had heard a Cuckoo in Lincolnshire when they were discussing spring like weather.

I think it was Alex P however they did not say it was heard in Boston.

Seem to think I hear reports of cuckoos on the local radio every year at impossibly early times and they are invariably Collared
Doves which many people seem to get confused with!!

Extreme Lincs dates for Common Tern are currently Mar 19th-Nov 4th. I found one in Lowestoft harbour Nov 17th last year which was still there into Dec and I see that one was reported from Holme in Norfolk 27th Dec so they seem to be stretching the parameters
