Species of raptor seen during the event: Hen Harrier - 1 male Marsh Harrier - possible male some fair distance away Sparrowhawk - 1 female hunting over marsh Merlin - very obliging fence post-sitter. Kestrel - one hunting over salt marsh just before event started. 2 female Smew still on reedbed scrape near Reedbed Hide About 15 White-fronted Geese on grassland. Lots of the usuals - Wigeon, Lapwing, Golden Plover, Redshank with at least 5 Little Egrets. 3000 Brent Geese around the reserve. |
