Are global conservation priorities lost on UK birders? If we were talking about Mink would people shelter the last individuals such that the population could rebound?

Oh dear ! ........surely not the possible start of yet another pro Ruddy Duck/anti Ruddy Duck Lincs Bird Club web conflict debate. : the third at least in the last few years. The last one unfortunately left some battered and uneven-tempered individuals lashing out.

Can we now draw a line here ?

Fair point.

But, think long and hard about the evidence-based science that stands behind the cull and balance that up with the notion of shooting ostensibly pretty ducks whose presence in a foreign landscape is no fault but our own.

Like it or not, conservation in human-modified landscapes requires killing stuff. And that is never pleasant.
