It beggars belief that a claim of such a significant bird can come out so late. If proven, this bird has been travelling south at about 100-120 miles per day since it left Aberdeen, so it'll be roosting overnight in Norfolk, presumably.....Anyone care to step forward and fill in the details ? It's about 40 miles from Rimac to Snettisham as the Crow flies (or as the Crane flies!) so it's not difficult to work out it was flying at a speed of about 40 miles / hour presuming it was found shortly after it arrived at Snettisham. You would guess the chances are it passed over Gibraltar Point on it's journey south. |

Of all the reports of the Sandhill Crane down the country last year, only two remain to be submitted to BBRC. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Rimac sighting is one of these two. It would be great to fill in this gap if at all possible. Does anyone have any details or rumours as to who may have seen it at Rimac? Thanks, |
