One thing in a sense this wasn't about the range of birds but nature at its most ordinary, yet very spectacular. Thanks to Kev and his team for arranging, and for me standing next to Ed with his instinctive knowledge of what was flying past us was an honour. The numbers were too mind boggling for me, but awesome. Worth looking out for in the future. Agree with Chris on range we did see. Andrew |

I guessed knot numbers were around 70, 000 including those that remained at the south roost. There were approx 4000 oysterdcatcher and 1400 sanderling. Dunlin seem to be in quite low numbers - I dont think any count has exceeded 4000 yet this autumn. There will be future wader watch events - advertsied in the Lincolnshire Wildlife Countryside Events program. Our next event at Gib is a 'Seawatch' on 10th Sept on the beach out from MIll Hill. This is a drop in session from 4.30 - 7 pm. Kev |
