Steve Keighley had a Sooty Shearwater N past the Witham Mouth at 08.20h this morning. Being in the hide at Freiston when SK sent me the text,I dashed to the sea-watching hide (The Shed) and was surprised / relieved to see presumably the same bird get up off the sea at 08.50h and move leisurely northwards along the Wash, disappearing out of sight by 08.55h. See Paul Sullivan's post for wader news. Otherwise quiet on the sea with 1 Gannet south and a steady stream of Common Terns feeding FL young, occasional Sandwich Tern and a ouple of Brent.
