Post subject:  Kites at Ruckland

We paid a visit to Ruckland again this afternoon - Dave Satterthwaite having reported a Black Kite on show there in the morning, plus a juvenile Red Kite and an assortment of Marsh Harriers and Common Buzzards. During our 3 hour stay we saw no sign of Black Kite - apparently it had headed off over the Bluestone Heath road , but James Siddle did well to spot a Red Kite. For a while it was quite distant but then drifted towards us and passed directly overhead before moving off high to the north-east,
Dave had also seen the White-tailed Eagle about three times up to 1.30 pm today but there was no sign of it by 5.30, at which time we departed.
