Started at Ruckland but it seems that the Eagle has been missing since Monday. We did see;
Common Buzzard 3
Red Kite 1

On to Manby Flashes for lunch in the hide and watched;
Green Sandpiper 10
Common Sandpiper 1
Black-tailed Godwit 7
Greenshank 1

Next - Covenham Reservoir and an excellent view of;
Red-necked Grebe 1 in south east corner

Back to Ruckland on the way home - still no Eagle!

Colin and Sheila

The last web-reported sighting was of the WTE flying N over the Ruckland fishponds at 13.25 Monday 25th July.

Further to that particular report my son, Alex, and I visited Ruckland on Tuesday 26th July 12.00 - 2.00pm, meeting up with one hardy soul who'd been there since 6.00am, and now in steady drizzle.

I was also following up a Spotted Flycatcher report at Ruckland for Wed 20th July but that had moved on ,too (as expected), so I missed two birds with one lone visit, as it were.

We did, however, see Buzzard, and Great -spotted Woodpecker there, plus a Little Owl on our way to recover from the disappointment at "The Admiral Rodney" in Horncastle. :D :) =P~

The red necked grebe had moved half way between the farm and the pumping station by mid afternoon - showing well albeit 100/200 yards offshore

Freddy

On the 22nd July it was in a different part of Ruckland, viewable circa 100 yards from the YHA building. I only found it because a few of the regular birders were parked up watching it.

BirdGuides report Thu 28th July
(Report in : 2039) White-tailed Eagle

"Lincs - Ruckland....juvenile still at small wood near Ruckland ponds".

We can all sleep soundly in our beds again tonight.

Geoff,
Further to your post above, I don't quite see any meaningful connection between my post re "the last web report" being extracted and highlighted and your subsequent comment about the WTE being "viewable circa 100 yards from the YHA building" on 22nd July. We've known for months that the WTE moves around the Ruckland area and often goes unreported at specific locations. Anyway, it was web-reported from two locations on 22nd July.

Also, I did not place those 3 emoticons directly after the sentence ending "and now in steady drizzle". Please edit them out as they appear totally crass in that position.

Sorry Freddy, have done so. I have only been to Ruckland three times and assumed it hung around the fishponds,which is where most birders wait for it to appear.
