Good day All.
Out on the airfield at 0440 local 27th, large amount's of Gulls. Between 0448 and 0500, stupid amounts of the usual Gulls(1,000+) going in all directions, but no GBBG's!! I don't have time to look at them just shift them. The array of markings and colouration was unbelievable ranging from extremely dark herring gull to extremely light, both forms of LBBg, commons and bh as well a mix all the way up, down and sideways, no med's as far as i could see. More interesting possibility of all the above is, If, I had time to leave them as they were and study them!!!!. Help Larophiles!!
Back tonight, I had a couple of GBBg,s float through but the smaller stuff was of more interest.
Yellow wagtail juv min 10, hard when you have 70+ pied juv to sort through as well.
Lapwing have had 2 brood's with a + thought of three?? , Oystercatcher 2a/1juv.
Linnet/Goldfinch/Greenfinch/House sparrow/Skylark/Mpip. all in very respectable numbers, no trees as yet.
Juv Corn bunting and adults + Yhamm have started to appear as well!
No sign of any juv birds of prey except Kestrel (1 fem), Larger female Peregrine yesterday though!!
Didn't get a chance to check for Sfly's tonight but will try to keep confirming amount of breeding pairs.
Talked to local farmer and he has had Quail calling on the airfield and close by but no sign of breeding so far.
Al the best.
Brian.
