Water levels at the mere dropping and great to find 4 summer plumage Black-tailed Godwits feeding on the mud this afternoon. Also 6 Common and 9 Lesser Black-backed Gulls.

This is only my 3rd record of Black-tailed Godwit on the patch in 25 years.

Hope these are the forerunners of many waders this autumn, it will probably rain heavily now and put the water level back up!

Thanks Andy - all the BTG's that I've checked over the past 10 days, as they return from the breeding grounds in alternative ( breeding ) plumage, have been islandica.
