After the severe winter excellent to see at least 3 young Barn Owls emerge from their box this evening and make some tentative short flights. Also 2 juv Tawny Owls in Waters Edge. Most unusual record though was a flock of Tufted Duck that arrived from the west accompanied by 2 immature male Goldeneye. A flock of 34 Black tailed Godwits circled before going SE, 2 Groppers singing and an odd burst of phyllosc song that started with some chiffs then went into a warble but the only birds there seemed to be a pair of WW feeding young?
