The St Wulfram's Peregrine chick's are growing swiftly now and soon they will be sitting out of view of the camera.

Between the 1st April and 7th June the page http://www.lincsbirdclub.co.uk/pegcam.html has been viewed 17,065 times, with 12,986 Unique Views and an average time on the page of 04:06 minutes.

The Peg Blog has reached a total of 5,204 since 31 Jan 2011.

Congratulations to Andrew, Alan Ball and Bob Sheppard ( and the adult birds ! ) for successfully seeing the chicks through to this next stage .....and it's not too long now when, before the end of the month or so, we should be able to see the young birds 'in the flesh/feathers' around the parapet area.....and beyond, plus the falcon and the tiercel, of course.

It's well worth a weekend visit to St. Wulfram's Church, with adequate (and cheap ) parking available only 2 minutes' walk away in the Grantham Watergate Car Park.

I decided that it was time to revisit the Grantham Peregrines today (Tue) 1.15-2.45 pm.

For most of the time I was watching the Tower, there were 3 juveniles in view, perched near the nesting parapet....one usually next to the camera or on two or three occasions actually sat on the camera shield (to the left), and the other two were on the large Gargoyle with the metal waterspout just below the parapet (to the right).

An adult Peregrine flew around or past the Tower 3 or 4 times, landed briefly once, but did not bring a prey item during my visit. There was a lot of wing-flapping from the 3 juveniles and one of them took a brief flight.

The webcam was functioning inside the Church but inevitably was showing the empty nesting tray.

My vantage/observation point was a low stone wall (quite comfortable, really) some 50-75 yards from the Church Door and facing the Tower's nesting parapet. I was intrigued to see a Swift making repeated visits to its nest in/on a house next to me.....the nest-hole being no more than 15 feet or so above ground level between the guttering and the bottom of the tiled roof - much lower than normal, I would have thought.

Another interesting and worthwhile visit.
