Another golfing day at Market Rasen was enhanced by 3 Crossbills on the course and 2 Oystercatchers beside the Resevoir at the adjacent Racecourse. In my opinion there are far more Oystercatchers apparently breeding in this county than ever before - am I right?

Stuart, there have been 2/3 Oystercatchers at Blankney Golf Club since 21 April. No direct evidence of breeding, although they have been regular summer visitors there since 2006.
In passing, the 2 rhea which have been a joy to watch on Dorrington and Ruskington fens since last September have been shot. Why would anyone want to do that?

Best wishes, Dave Purnell

Hi Stuart

Oystercatchers have been confirmed breeding in 28 out of 76 10km squares in Lincs so far during the current atlas. You can check out the results for this species by visiting the BTO Atlas homepage and then clicking on Latest News, Regional results and the various regions of Lincs and then clicking Oystercatcher.
