I thought six was a lot but I see there is a report of nine Temminck's stints at Frampton today. I'm trying to find out if this is some kind of record - presumably it is in Lincs, maybe even in the UK. Can anyone own up to or confirm the count? Cheers, John |

I saw two from the path to 180 hide at 10.30 then six with 2 Dunlin at 11am from the hide yesterday. Just before I arrived 4 with a Little Stint had beed seen by a group of 4 from Yorkshire from 180! I never located the Little (And i do not thing anyone else saw it whilst I was there). 6 + 2 = 8 if different birds + Little wrongly identified = 9 ? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I thought of it first |

To save you the bother of checking Kent records, I can give you all counts of five or more there: 8 Yantlet 7th August 1938 5 Grove Ferry 1st Sept 1961 5 Pegwell Bay 11th May 1980 5 Grove Ferry 8th Aug 1999 6 Cliffe Pools 16th-17th May 2004 5 Grove Ferry 16th May 2008 Note the returning flock at Grove Ferry. Andrew ...but then I checked Birds of Norfolk (1999), where there had been four counts of six, one of eight and one of ten at Hickling on 16th May 1980 |

Birds of Suffolk A flock of 10 , from which one was shot, was noted at Benacre about 1850 and similar numbers were noted during the great fall of September 1965 between Walberswick and Havergate Island (anyone who has never read the 1965 fall write up in BB should do themselves a favour and forget a fall of 10 Redstarts as being relevant!) |
