An update on what I know about this sighting.
The Red-necked Phalarope was found by two visiting birders from Rotherham - Paul Buxton and Sean Browne.
They reported the presence of a phalarope to John Badley who confirmed it as Red-necked.
Linda and I went to see the bird mid-afternoon at which time it was missing and had not been sighted by Paul Sullivan and Alex Parker who were already in the 360 hide when we got there. We had a good look round including the long haul to the East hide but without success and then had a pager message that the bird had been relocated and was viewable from the track leading to the old car park and from there we saw it well, although the bird was quite flighty in the presence of a few Dunlin.

It was interesting to note the very pale plumage on the Red-necked Phalarope, there being few obvious rufous feathers.
It is assumed to be a first-summer male.

Phalarope performed beautifully this afternoon when I saw it circa 14:30. Still there on departure at 16:15. That, along with a very active Black Tern puts me one away from that pizza!!!!!

The phalarope was still present today on and off, along with at least two Temminck's stints (I hear there were four at some point this weekend)

To be fair I didn't think I was confirming anything... Sean and Paul reported as a r-nphal. All I did was see it and thank them.
