Got lucky today and saw the Purple Heron at Huttoft Pits, good views from the hide as it flew from the large reedbed on the right to the opposite bank, it soon took off westwards and alighted in nearby dykes around 2.00 pm . Roy H saw it earlier in the day, thanks for the info Roy and brilliant photos by the way ! Cheers Greg |

Thanks Greg - good to meet up with you today. As I mentioned, you did not realise how lucky you were to see the bird within three minutes of reaching the hide. I had been on site for 4.75 hours before getting the shots I showed you! A word of advice for anyone trying the Huttoft hide over the Easter break, if the wind stays where it has been for the last few days, the hide is bitterly cold early in the day so wrap up well. Roy |
