Barn Owl 1 Chiffchaff 3 Sedge Warbler 9 Extremely vocal. All the notes to include a vigorous hurried melody of sound with some musical passages plus some strident ones and of course the grating "churr". As you will probably have guessed one of my favourites. Ringed Plover 22 Whimbrel 2 Black-Tailed Godwit 28 On the south side of the tidal river on a sandy inlet as the incoming tide gathered momentum. I was somewhat surprised that all these birds appeared to still be in winter plumage. Linnet 6 5 females sat with just 1 male on a stretch of wire fence. This probably explains why his twittering melody was on full volume! I also suspect that at this location we may have a slight increase in breeding Skylark which is indeed good news. My records suggest that mid April onwards is generally egg laying time. The final icing on the cake was my first Orange-tip butterfly.
