The forum for Rare Bird News is a great way of disseminating news relatively quickly, but I would suggest that most of the info' here is NOT rare bird news . Perhaps (Andy?) we split this into two - The Daily Bird Log and Rare BIrd News, or something similar. That would be more precise and at the same time not offend those not interested in rarities,

Phil

Why? Leave it as it is. It is serving a useful purpose in showing what is about. A rarity for some is a common bird for others

I can see where you are coming from, Phil, but Chris' comment points straight to the potential predicament if we split into two : some members will inevitably put 'common' birds into the 'rare' category and vice-versa depending on how they perceive 'common' and 'rare........we'd be back to Square One.

So, as Max indicates, we seem obliged to leave it as it is, especially as members wouldn't want to reference any new 'official' list of 'common' and 'rare' birds before we posted sightings...( and can you imagine how long it would take us to finalise such a list  ....probably long enough for some of the original 'rare' birds to become 'common' and vice-versa.)

There is also a long standing error on the website....

On the website it is called - "Rare Bird News"
and
On the forum it is called - "Lincs Bird Reports"

This has been pointed out before, but it has never been changed....

From the actual collection of records for the LBC database, I think it is best all kept together?

However, it is always good to hear feedback....

Andrew
