A really productive visit this afternoon with the following highlights: Corn Bunting c20, Sedge Warbler singing, Yellow Wagtails c10, Sand Martin 2, Swallow 2, Twite 3, Golden Plover 1 (summer plumage), Pintail pair, Pink Feet 3, Little Egret 7, Dunlin 6, Black-tailed Godwit 20 (in winter plumage) around the scrape and a separate flock of 100 summer plumaged birds dropped into the reedbed with 14 Ruff just as we were leaving. In addition to all of this, we found the male Garganey in a pool on the wetland area displaying to a female Shoveler! He was getting quite amorous whilst she was playing it cool. For the sake of the County Recorders, let's hope there are no further developments. Regards, David Cohen. |

I've heard the male shoveler is well unimpressed with this behaviour! |
