Myself and Chris Heaton were stood on the Lincs Wolds at Little Cawthorpe, mainly looking at displaying Common Buzzards when at 12.30 a juv White tailed Eagle flew low over us heading towards Manby, then the coast. We watched it for around 8 minutes. Chris called DS who managed to race and see the bird at some distance by then.
I did take a digiscope image of the bird, but this isn't easy when the bird is several hundred feet above you!

That is what I call a good day, makes up for all the days without finding anything.

This is my 2nd WT Eagle for Lincs having seen the wintering bird leave Oxcombe Valley several years ago, before been seen at Kirkby and later on that day in Derbyshire.

Excellent Dave et al. Presumably the same bird was reported over over Titchwell at 2.55 then Brancaster at 3pm

And then at:

Norfolk East Ruston 16:49
Norfolk Stalham 16:53
Norfolk Martham 17:08
Norfolk Ormesby St. Margaret
Norfolk East Somerton

What a great find, and to be able to track its progress across Norfolk afterwards...

Well done!

1500 Brancaster 1530 Donna Nook does not sound logical?

Sounds like there is sudden agreement that it really does exist then. Just to prove it it's blogged off to Norfolk, done a "hello" fly-by and heading back....I wonder if it's coming back to same spot in the wolds?

There has been a juv for the last few months in Hampshire that was last reported there on 24 March. Could be the same bird perhaps but the Eagle report at Burwell was 19 March according to Birdguides when the Hampshire bird was still down there.

Its heading back west along the North Norfolk coast at the moment so hopefully the guys at Gib are waiting for it.

There were a few raptors on the move here this morning including a rough legged buzzard, but I've only just heard about the eagle at 1845 so its probably already been over us (again !?)

This looks like our bird (?) - Blackland's Farm, Newnham, Basingstoke, Hampshire - February 2011.

See - http://www.digitalwildlife.co.uk/birds/ ... deagle.htm shows the same bird - look at the chopped "6th finger" on the left wing.... (thanks to Alan Lewis (?) on the birdforum.net for pointing this out)
