Post subject:  Louth peregrine update

A monthly update of the number of days peregrine present on St.James, Louth.

March has been another poor month for seeing & hearing the pegs. They seem to know the camera is on them, so have made themselves scarce. A singe one appeared this pm, the first for 5 days.

August: single 15 days + pair 1 day.
September: single 17 days (calling most days) + pair 2 days.
October: single 16 days (calling most days) + pair 9 days (performing spectacular display flights with raucous calling by both).
November: single 17 days (seen carrying prey on 1 day) + pair 5 days + 3 on 2 days.
December: single 17 days + pair 11 days. (Seen sharing a kill on one occasion and several instances of prey being butchered, favoured location is the east side of the tower on the middle gargoyle just below the walkway.)
January 2011: single 17 days + pair 6 days.
February 2011: single 13 days + pair 2 days
March 2011: single 11 days + pair 5 days

April report at end of month. Note, the birds may have been present more frequently, but not recorded by us.
