Went to Gib Point for a meeting this morning and from the car park at 10:15 am, alongside another 3 keen birders and Kev Wilson, observed a Red Kite circle marsh land for about 10 minutes before heading South towards Wainfleet bombing range. Colleague had seen directly overhead and was confident it was not a tagged bird. |

A good preformance by the kite - considering that most scarce raptors fly over while I am in meetings, this one duly obliged by being 15 minutes early! 'another 3 keen birders and Kev Wilson' ??????!! ...mmm, thanks for that Mark ! Kev |

Interesting, that the bird i had today at Worlaby was also un-tagged.There could be the possibility that they are migrants with the easterly air flow of late.I remember a similar event in March 1988,in the days when the species occurrance wasn't clouded by introductions,i had my first ever on 31st March. Regards Steve. |

Sorry Kev - you are definitely not in the category of keen birder mate - you are a professional! Made me smile! |

Back to form with the latest Red Kite going over the office while I was inside it ! Anyway, Mark - you are forgiven....but at least I had my bins in the car ! Steve - a quick trawl through the first batch of Gib records commences wth one in Aug 72, then a further 9 un-tagged birds up to the end of 1997. Of these, 7 were between 20th March and 9th April, with three of them on 3rd April. Cheers Kev |
