At 6am today there were 16 Whoopers on the Reed Bed and 46 on the Scrapes. At about 8am they flew off North West. The whooping gradually decreased but as they flew further away it increased again, and I realised that lots more were flying in from the salt marsh. 95 landed on the Reed Bed so the grand total was 157, an amazing sight and sound. No fruit basketry in sight up there. Whoopers in very good voice when I returned exhausted to my waiting chauffeur (Dad). Meadow Pipits everywhere. |
