Post subject:  RSPB Freiston Shore - 4th March 2011

Weather - Parky at first, bloody freezing later on! Overcast and lagoon water levels very high.

YEAR TICKS

Ringed Plover - few on lagoon
Turnstone - 5 on lagoon
Red-Breasted Merganser - 1 on the Wash
Common Eider - 2 on the Wash
Marsh Harrier - female flying along the shoreline from Frampton direction.

OTHERS

Barn Owl - hunting shortly after I arrived :D
Goldeneye - many on the wash
Wigeon - hundreds everywhere
Brent Goose - flock of 2000 on wetland and reservoir. All took off just metres from me and the wing noise was incredible!! :shock: :D
Dunlin - 1 on lagoon when I arrived, hundreds on there later as the tide rose
Oystercatcher - at least 3000 on lagoon as the tide rose. Large flock flew over me again with impressive wingbeat sounds!
Curlew - at least 100 on wetland
Fieldfare - 4 on wet grassland
Mistle Thrush - with Fieldfare on wet grassland

OOH, MATRON!!!!! :shock:

2 Collared Doves mating in tree behind Plummers!
