After a meeting at Manby i had a quick look at the washlands in windy conditions, good numbers of mallard, teal, wigeon , shoveler and greylag, and the head and upper neck and bill of an egret showing ,sheltering in the farside rushes, the bill all yellow and looking rather long so indicating a great white.
regards John.

That's 2 in Lincolnshire today if the one I saw at 10.30 this morning just south of Deeping Lakes flying low west to east didn't change course and fly 60 miles north!

Full bright yellow bill and the longest legs I have ever seen on a flying bird.

Recent records on Birdguides included a bird at Kirkby at the end of Jan 2011, guess it will account for one of the birds?
