An afternoon on black bank produced a nice flock of 9 Bewick Swans mixed in with a few Mute Swans, best viewed fron the banks of the river Eau.
Also noted:100 + Fieldfare,
100 +Wigeon,
1 Common Buzzard.

Evening Roger,

These birds were possibly the 9 birds that have been at New Holland for a few weeks,i watched them leave to the west this a.m. heading in the direction of Barton while taking part in my monthly WEBS count.

Regards

Steve.

cos before i put the record on i checked the search engine on here and find no mention of 9 Bewick swans anywhere(in the last few weeks),if they have been at new holland several weeks-why can i not find them on here?

Steve,

Just out of curiosity why wasn't the Bewick sighting put on here if you knew then others must have as well? Bewick's are not exactly common in this neck of the woods.

Rog,

I went down to Black Bank at 15.30 today and there was no sign of the Bewick's but there was 17 Mute's on arable land between the Eau and the road. Also had a party of 13 Red-leg Partridge having a gentle wander along the road. Coming back via Carr Dyke had a single Common Buzzard over.

John

Roger and John,

Roger's report of 9 Bewick's Swans ("Bewick Swans, Black Bank, 23.1.2011.") was timed at 8.30pm (UTC/DST), Sunday 23 January.

Steve's report of 9 Bewick's Swans ("New Holland Wildfowl, etc") was timed at 2.13pm (UTC/DST), Sunday 23 January, some 6 hours earlier!

So, what's the problem?

Regards,

Freddy
PS
Sorry, Roger and John - I misread the thread and I can't edit out the above comments!
I now see what you are getting at.
Regards,
Freddy
