Tawny Owl still in the tree by the Village Limits this morning - but does go missing (inside?) sometimes - not there yesterday afternoon. Nearly 100 Mute Swan in three flocks between Martin and Woodhall Spa this morning; 6 Whooper in the flock to the north of the road. A large flock of finches - perhaps 250? Mobile -often in the seed crop field just by the 40 mph sign just out of Kirkby village, towards the tip/pits. Often fly off; sometimes in the hedge that runs alongside the houses/track at the edge of the field and sometimes in a large oak, perhaps 50m from the road in that hedge. Mostly Linnet (see John Clarkson's post - also the largest I've seen for some time) but also Brambling - at least 10, including one or two very smart males. Rob |
