As usual was late up [midday] and I as drew the kitchen curtains spotted what I believe was a Lesser Redpoll [ it was a definite redpoll but not sure a Lesser] on the niger feeder with the goldfinches. I daresay it could have been there all morning but on the opening of the curtains it flew off and didn't return to the best of my knowledge. I kept an eye out but maybe it came back maybe it didn't.

It's a year to the day since I spotted two L Redpoll on the niger feeder, I'd like to think it's the same bird. The two that visited last year stayed a total of ten weeks [ one was here three weeks and the other the full ten ].

For the last week or so a Magpie has been a regular visitor but today there were two. I think they are a cracking bird seen close up, managed a short video of it. A rare visitor in the garden but not overhead was a Crow.

Hoping that the Blackcap also makes a return next month.

Regards

John :D

I have just posted this on "My Garden" thread in G Birding. Not earth shattering news by any means but most of those who read this section probably don't read G Birding.

Last Friday late afternoon had 19 Pink-feet and yesterday had 27 at about the same time over the garden, all were going north.

The L Redpoll that visited as far as I know hasn't been seen since.

Cheers

John
