A flock of some 30 Fieldfares has been in the fields near the house in Bracebridge Heath this winter. This morning they were feeding in the recently ploughed field just below the bathroom window, allowing very close binocular views. You tend to forget how attractive these winter visitors are until you are given such close views.....and then to realise each bird has flown across the North Sea to reach Lincolnshire and to be viewable from our bathroom window. Just one bird landed in the upper branches of a Field Maple by our garden fence.

The garden flock of Goldfinches has now increased to 15-20, despite recent predation by the local Sparrowhawk. :(

Regards,

Freddy
