Travelling north back to Skeg this afternoon, I noted a single adult Bewick's Swan with 18 Mutes visible west from the A52, just behind Lomax's Garage/junction with Low Road

Also to the east, where the A52 crosses the Cowbank DRain, a very unusually coloured buzzard seen v briefly before dissappearing behind a copse - it appeared to have extensively white upperwing coverts and possibly white on the back/tail too - looked more common buzzard shaped but could not eliminate rough-leg on the views

Cheers

Are the Bewicks in TF56 or 55?

Neither Bewicks or Whooper have been recorded for the atlas in 56. There is also a massive dearth of Geese in TF56 with even Greylag and Brent not recorded. Any roving records would be appreciated and here is a list of whats missing from this square.

Phil

I reckon the Bewicks was around TF 533620 when I saw it - I'd be grateful if you could submit it.

The Buzzard turned out to be an extreme pale morph common buzzard similar to that on plate 322 Forsman Raptor Guide

Cheers
