For the first time since the end of November there is some open water on the mere. Yesterday it was 100% frozen, today only 70%. Already some wildfowl have moved back in with the following present:- 1 male Mallard. 2 pairs Gadwall 1 male Pochard. 1 male & 2 female Goosanders. Also 1 Skylark flew over, 2 pairs Bullfinches and c20 Yellowhammers back on the patch. |
