I had a report of waxwings in Princess Street on Monday. Had a look on Tuesday afternoon. None there, but I then found a flock of 50+ in front of the Civic Centre at 2-15pm. However, these quickly took flight and despite driving around Immingham for an hour, I failed to relocate them.
Cheers, Patrick.

If it helps, Patrick, and in case you are unaware of the report, 15 Waxwings were seen in Immingham at Weston Grove on 4th and 5th January - sometimes they do hang around around for a number of days if the berry/apple/hip source lasts.

Regards,

Freddy

Thanks, Freddy. I went back this morning and at about 10-30am found 50+ waxwings feeding on two trees at the entrance to the car park at the rear of the Civic Centre. These again flew off after a stay of 15 minutes or so. After a quick visit to an almost deserted Killingholme Haven (just a few mallards) I returned to Immingham and located 30+ waxwings feeding in the front garden of a house in Ferndown Drive.
Cheers, Patrick.

Congratulations, Patrick, that's a terrific Waxwing haul for one day......? virtually one morning :D
We are still waiting for a good-sized Lincoln (City) flock to be relocated after the 80+ at Lincoln Railway Station a week ago, but it's not for the lack of trying. I must admit I consider these birds quite special.

Regards,

Freddy

Waxwings still around this morning, after a while looking we found about 45 on Pelham Road opposite the precinct. They were feeding on a couple of trees at the bus stop. This was at 11 o'clock.

Still about the same number at about 1-00pm. There are lots of berries left, so hopefully waxwings will still be around at the weekend for the benefit of those unfortunates who have to work Monday to Friday.
Cheers, Patrick.

Ventured into the Immingham precinct today and counted a minimum of 72 Waxwings in the tree outside the precinct but they flew off south into a housing estate and disappeared -- earlier there were 54 in a tree by the County Hotel (looks pretty much like it did in 1970) -- I assume these were the same birds but it may be possible that they were different -- also 3 along the dual carriageway between Imm and the refineries --
