Post subject:  Swanpool/Boultham mere 26/12.

A 2 hour walk across the patch this morning, all drains frozen:-
2 Mute swans flew over
6 Grey Herons, 1 flew over, 2 on drain bank & 3 on sunny side of hedge
1 female Kestrel
c20 Moorhens
1 Woodcock feeding in open on sunny side of hedge
Steady SW passage of gulls, mainly Herring with smaller numbers of Great Black-backed, Common & Black-headed
Wood Pigeons, Stock & Collared Doves
Dunnock
Robins
1 Song Thrush
Blackbirds
2 Wrens
Great, Coal & Blue Tits
2 Magpies & 1 Jay
Jackdaws, Rooks & Carrion Crows
1 Chaffinch
c80 Lesser Redpolls feeding in silver birches, despite searching no sign of any Mealies
3 Goldfinches
2 Greenfinches
3 Bullfinches
