When I came home yesterday from watching the Lincoln High Street Waxwings, my wife Inga said, "There was an unusual bird on the Crabapple tree earlier ..... it was about the size of a Starling with a chestnut crest and with yellow on the tail. HMMNN!
Anyway, at c12.30 today (Fri), there it was .....a Waxwing feeding with 2 Mistle Thrushes on my Sentinel Crabapple tree. Fortunately, my son Alex was able to get a (low quality)iPhone record shot through his bedroom window - see Photo Album.
Regards,
Freddy
PS. I actually planted the Sentinel Crabapple tree some 6 or 7 years ago as I had read an article about its fruit appeal to Waxwings. At the time, the main thought I and my birding colleagues had was "Dream on!"
