There was a Little Egret on an unfrozen, spring-fed drain in Dunsby Fen yesterday and today I heard a loud Dunnock-like "peee" and looked up to see a Kingfisher flying over the garden. I don't think that we have had quite such low temperatures in the south of the county as in the north. Hugh Dorrington |

Hi Hugh, Kingfisher by the bridge over the beck yesterday. Common Snipe in the running dyke Station Street, Rippingale and a Woodcock flew out of Barn Farm Wood. I have been feeding large numbers of birds in the garden including a cock Brambling feeding with up to 14 Chaffinches and 2 Siskins on the feeders. The windfall bramley apples are nearly all gone but have attracted hordes of Blackbirds, Mistle Thrushes and up to 3 Fieldfares to date. Best regards, Ian |

Ian, Siskin is a new winter atlas record for TF12. Well done, now get it in! Today: Little Egret still on the (unfrozen) Car Dyke. Several Bramblings and Corn Buntings on a game cover strip down Dunsby Fen. 5 Bullfinches in Dunsby vilage. Hugh |
