About 50 Pink-footed Geese joined the resident 200 or so Greylags and Canadas this morning at Dunsby along with 5 Wigeon. 10 Brambling in the game cover by the old railway line.

There was a Little Egret on an unfrozen, spring-fed drain in Dunsby Fen yesterday and today I heard a loud Dunnock-like "peee" and looked up to see a Kingfisher flying over the garden.
I don't think that we have had quite such low temperatures in the south of the county as in the north.

Hi Hugh,

Kingfisher by the bridge over the beck yesterday. Common Snipe in the running dyke Station Street, Rippingale and a Woodcock flew out of Barn Farm Wood.
I have been feeding large numbers of birds in the garden including a cock Brambling feeding with up to 14 Chaffinches and 2 Siskins on the feeders. The windfall bramley apples are nearly all gone but have attracted hordes of Blackbirds, Mistle Thrushes and up to 3 Fieldfares to date.

Best regards,

Ian

Ian, Siskin is a new winter atlas record for TF12. Well done, now get it in!
Today: Little Egret still on the (unfrozen) Car Dyke. Several Bramblings and Corn Buntings on a game cover strip down Dunsby Fen. 5 Bullfinches in Dunsby vilage.
