A good start to the day
Waxwing - 2 singles arrived seperately, then five in later. probably joining the original two and all seven moved north Hawfinch - on W Dunes before moving off NW Bullfinch 2 Water rail 3 Snow bunting Brambling 5 S Blackcap 3 Long tailed tit - apparent southerly movement through the dunes with flocks of 15, 11 and 16 in addition to 7 poss local birds. Lapland bunting 4 S Merlin 1 (2 yesterday) Long tailed duck - still on the Mere Whooper swan - 2 pairs south and a group of 8 wild swans movingh south - the first of which was a whooper - the rest not identified. Marsh harrier imm male Hen harrier 1 rt (2 yesterday) Woodcock 1 in off sea Lesser whitethroat Chiffchaff - only 1 Bearded Tit - at least 2 on the Mere Stonechat 2
Later Adi Royle saw a rough-legged buzzard move west over Croftmasrh and the highligts of a very quiet seawatch for 40 nmins late afternoon were Med Gull 1 adult N Purple sandpipier
