Hi,

A nice day at Frampton today with lots of variety;

Lapland bunting - At least 7 but mobile.
Whooper swan - 7
Scaup - 2
Kingfisher - 1
Merlin - 1
Peregrine - 1
Hen harrier - 2
Buzzard - 1
Marsh harrier - 1
Twite - 7
Ruff - 56 (site record count?)
Little stint - 3
Green sandpiper - 3
Spotted redshank - 1
Golden plover - 60
Dark-bellied brent goose - 2000
Wigeon - 300
Teal - 200
Tree sparrow - at least a dozen on the feeders outside the visitor centre window.

An interesting and educational juvenile little stint today. It didn't have the clear cut white mantle 'V', had rather plain grey-brown upperparts with no hint of any rufous tones, so it was slightly, but noticably paler/lighter than the other two juveniles and in direct comparison appeared to be bulkier (noted by several people). However, there were also several features suggesting it wasn't anything else, including the lack of any palmations between the toes.

Cheers,

John et al
