Managed to find a hoped for Juv. Rough-legged Buzzard on the patch this afternoon, the bird was first found at about 14.50 and watched hunting the fields between the Carrs and Bonby Carrs, showing very well at times in perfect light conditions. It then flew steadily south over the Carrs and was eventually lost in the direction of Wrawby Moor at about 16.00.This is the 2nd bird in 2 years for my patch and the third i have seen here overall after the famous 2002/2003 wintering bird.Other goodies today included the following: 1 Juv. female Hen Harrier 1 ad. female Merlin 11 Common Buzzard(for those visiting, there is a pale 'Rough-leg alike',which can be confusing to the unwary) 260 Lapwing 3 juv. Marsh Harrier 68 Fieldfare 20 Long-tailed Tit(No 'Caudatus' unfortunately) Regards Steve. |
