The annual trip into the Wash aboard The Mystere on Saturday was undertaken in overcast conditions with a heavy swell that made birding difficult to start with, but as the tide dropped we took shelter between sandbanks at the mouth of the Wash.
Landbirds were more obvious than seabirds with a Meadow Pipit, Robin and 2 Goldcrests joining us on the boat and several Song Thrushes, Brambling, Chaffinch and a Swallow passing over.
Other highlights:
5 Arctic Skua
2 Great Skua
80 Common Scoter witha female Scaup
4 Red-throated Divers
4 Guillemots
4 Commic Terns
3 Sandwich Terns
1 Black Tern
Several Gannets
1 Peregrine flying around Boston Stump
Merlin on the Haven
2 Curlew Sandpipers with a flock of Dunlin on the Haven

A very enjoyable day despite the conditions

Do you think it's looking for next year's nest site?
