Wide variety of waders present today, also a further increase in Sandwich Terns Greenshank x5 Redshank x13 Spotted Redshank x1 Snipe x3 Avocet x60 Lapwing x13 Common Sandpiper x2 Little Ringed Plover x3 Ringed Plover Black-tailed Godwit x37 Curlew x3 Whimbrel x1 Oystercatcher x5 Green Sandpiper x1 Golden Plover x36 Ruff x1 Gannet x1 (Very Distant) Common Tern x2 Sandwich Tern x300 Swallow x137 (Majority flying South) Swift x49 House Martin x37 Sand Martin x1 Reed Warbler x3 Shelduck x5 Little Egret x26 Cormorant x1 Kingfisher x1 Greater Spotted Woodpecker x1 Turtle Dove x1 Teal x27 Little Grebe x3 Greylag Goose x5 Blue Tit x3 Great Tit x2 Chaffinch x3 Meadow Pipit x6 Skylark x2 Grey Partridge x1 Blackcap x1 Common Whitethroat x9 Stock Dove x2 Magpie x8 Grey Heron x1 Wren x1 Dunnock x1 Linnet x5 (66 Species today) Richard |

Hate to tell you this Richard but 4 Spoonbills arrived on Jackson's Marsh this morning and stayed untill I left at 17:00!! Interestingly the previous 4 Spoonbills were last seen circling over Tennyson's for 10 mins or so last Thursday lunchtime - there were 2 unringed birds and the 2 colour ringed birds. No Spoonbills were seen on Friday or Saturday but today 4 turn up again but this time there are 3 unringed birds and 1 of the colour ringed birds. So where have they been between Thursday and today - where did they lose one of the group and encounter another?? If anybody in any County reading this can shed any light on these Spoonbill movements please let us know. 100's of Sand Martins heading south today along with Swifts and Swallows. Sandwich Tern numbers upto c800. At least 25 pairs of breeding Little Terns and some with young so easy to see them feeding offshore. |

Thanks for the info on the Spoonbills Ed, I'll be back to try again tomorrow hopefully with some success. Good news on the Little Terns breeding successfully this year. Regards, Richard |

Success at last Ed, 4 Spoonbills showing well in front of Jacksons hide, 3 of them were unringed and one colour ringed. Turtle Dove was feeding on Tennysons Sands by the gate opposite harveys hide. Further movement of Swallows today, 51 flew south. Richard |

We still haven't got a confirmed record of Turtle Dove breeding in East Lincs for the Atlas. Most of the records we do have come from Gib and if anyone could confirm them breeding there, or anywhere else for that matter it would be great. |

I have just had data back from Netherlands on the two ringed Spoonbills I observed 7 Jul and have gained permission to publish on my blog only sorry. Great stuff John - I did actually publish the life histories of the 2 birds on this forum recently - but it's fascinating to see that they went over to Cley from Gib and then back again to Gib. It may take a while before all of the clour ring sightings are coordinated and put into the Dutch database and then we'll perhaps learn more. Thanks alot. |

Edmund, No worries, all but one of the June sightings at Gib for the birds were under your name. If you had not submitted them then, we wouldn't have known they moved from Gib to Cley. Thanks |
